The line between psychedelic and classic
rock is a fine line in the case of Zallen's "Expensive Date." The mood is flashing lights and lava lamps but the
musicianship is classic rock with solid guitar that showcases
Zallen's brilliance and vocals that fit the genre of the music
better than anyone. Reminiscent of Bowie, Radiohead and XTC,
Zallen is breaking the mold and re-creating rock.

A few that really stood out for me were the
title track
"I Live In A Box", "Expensive Date"
(of course), "Long Weekend" and
"No Clue". I
actually brought it to a party last week and ended up playing the
whole thing to a bunch of friends - good reaction too! Once more
- keep rocking - I personally feel you kick it out and look
forward to seeing more material from you.

Extremely catchy and engaging psychedelic
alternative rock. You will hear diverse influences including
Bowie, The Beatles, Radiohead, Todd Rundgren, XTC, Prince and
Tears For Fears.

Do you like psychedelic music? Then you must check out Zallen's
"I Live In A Box" a great album put together by this virtual one man
band. This album has a truly unique feel about it almost
Lennon-ish in fact. Check him out and see what I mean.
The AUSSIE CONNECTION
Rating: 9.5 - There's some interesting stuff here. Dynamic yet
moves along with an intelligent significance. The hooks are there
and good production. Cosmic rock with a touch of commercialism is
what we hear.
GREAT ROCK Radio
I went to listen to your band and I was
honestly FUCKING BLOWN AWAY! you are a supreme SONGWRITER. I
think the best song BY FAR has to be
"Expensive Date" I love that song...I stopped listening to it 5 min.
ago but it's still ringing clear in my head! I think you guys
should push that song on radio...it's got kind of a Perry Farrell
vocal and the chord structure is very Beatlesesque. I love the
lead guitar too, sounds very ethereal! You guys are a wicked band
and I wish the best of luck to you...I know it's a bitch but
don't give up...I have added you to "other artists we
like" section of our page www.mp3.com/skyfishermen good luck and hopefully talk to you sometime! Take
care.
-Jas, the SkyFishermen.
Hello Zallen,
We love your music. What a unique groove. You've got really great
writing, melodies and dynamics. Keep up the good work...
-Tony Anton
Hey there! I love your music! It's just so different and
refreshing. I am adding you to The Lyric Justice Music Radio II
Station. Please take a listen to my stuff! I think you may like
it.
-Justice
You're song is one of my favorites on the station. It's so cool
& kind of trippy. One-man band, that's very cool. Same with
my solo stuff. Yours sounds like a very high quality recording.
Did you go to a studio or do you just have a killer one in your
house?
-Todd
I've enjoyed listening to your music this morning at work! Great
vocal style/harmonies & good arrangements. Thanks for sharing
your music!
-Steve
How you doing? I think your songs are great. Melody, imagine
that. You can write them. I linked to your site (not that my site
is exactly on fire) from mine. Best of luck to you. I run the
dirthead crew at a ski area. If you are going to be at Tahoe for
winter recreation in a few months let me know via e-mail when, I
can hook you and your friends up at Mt. Rose with lift passes.
Again, great job.
-Mitch Morgan
Ahhh.. a breathe of fresh air.. just listened to "Mars Express".. Mind if I hook you up on our
"Drowning Noah Weather Radio" station?
Thanks!
HI MIKE, JUST LISTENED TO MARS EXPRESS, I LIKED
IT OF COURSE BECAUSE I WAS A BEATLES FANATIC GROWING UP, IT PUTS
ME IN THE MIND OF SERGEANT PEPPERS MEETS, STRAWBERRY FIELDS. I
WILL SURELY ADD IT, AND I WILL LISTEN TO THE OTHER'S AS I GET
SOME TIME. YOUR MUSIC IS VERY CREATIVE, WHICH I LIKED, AS WELL AS
YOUR EXPERIMENTATION WITH SOUND, I LOVE DOING THAT KIND OF STUFF.
LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING AROUND TOWN, I WILL COME
OUT AND HEAR YOU, IF I CAN! KEEP WRITING!
-V.
Greetings from Crunchie Undies!
I am listening to your first song now. It is very
engaging/interesting with an excellent hook/groove. Cheers
-Rob
Some great tunes. Zallen is a favorite of my band gehelio non-centric.
Check out our site here on mp3.com.

Hey Michael,
We'd like to include Mars Express in our
next show. It's excellent and adds a distinctive balance to some
of the other music on the show. Your song will definitely be a
standout! Thanks for being a part of the dysfunctional Taylor
family

Brothers Homegrown on the F2Network.
love the tunes! Y'all rock! Glad I checked it out. I have a band
too, an all girl band and we're from Canada. xoxo

Surfing and found your stuff. Nice tunes you have. I hope you
keep climbing the charts... Best of success to you.
-TRENCH
Mike, I've been following your success, and have listened to some
of your songs, which are awesome. Sure, I'm definitely up for
exchanging links, if you want to. I'll add you to my favorite
artists today. It would be fun to jam. Too bad about the
geographical distance. Oh well, I'm just happy for mp3.com and
the way it has allowed us musicians to get our music "out
there" and to get to know each other. Good luck and
continued success!
-Dan/Dyonisos
Hello! I listened to your music again, you are very gifted. I
wish I hear your music on the radio other than the crap they
play. Doesn't seem fair, huh? United Independent something station.
Keep up the wonderful music.
RJ
Hi! I've just been listening to your songs and its some of the
best music I've heard on MP3.com! I maintain www.mp3.com/elementuk (check it out, PRIME
British neo- psych!) and I'd
love to swap links with you.
-Dan
Hey Mike,
Cool music, I'm a huge Beatles, Bowie and Paul Weller fan. I
actually have a side project that is Mod influenced on mp3.com
called Enquire. Your music
sounds great, well polished! Your lyrics are really clever and
cool. "I was brought upon this earth to frustrate
you", that's a cool opening
line! I'll add you to my station, Domino Effect ASAP.
All the best!
-Jeff
Hi Michael, I saw your in AD in music connection for a drummer
wanted and streamed some of your songs on MP3. I was very
impressed to say the least, not only with the quality of the
material (which was outstanding) but also with your mp3 site. It
was very professional and informative. Anyway, I dig the
material, I'm an outstanding drummer and would love to meet you
and jam with you.
-Mark Morrow-
Mike,
I checked out your stuff and I like the melodies a lot. I am not
that big into special effects, I'm a reverb/distortion man
myself. But I think your songs are still real cool and creative.
I also think you sound a bit like Ozzy Osborne when you sing..
Hope that isn't an insult to you, cause it's cool.. he he..
-Shawn
Just listening to your work now :) I am suitably impressed and
would love to have you aboard at our site. I believe you would do
well out of some exposure to our Australian audiences. And making
your CD available for sale here would definitely increase your
chances of adding to your income :) Cheers

-Advantage Music Company
Mike, thanks for your comments and the listen... your stuff is
hot, very well crafted, link added whilst I'm still listening ;)
cheers,
-Ben
Great stuff, it has a Prince feel. He also drew from the Beatles
and Bowie.
-Hete

you enjoyed my music or my site, or hopefully both, please sign the guest book
